Yamal-Europe, which normally sends Russian gas west to Europe, was flowing east through Germany to Poland for the 16th consecutive day on Wednesday. However, flows were significantly lower, according to data from Gascade, a German network operator.
The Eastbound volumes dropped to below 1.7 million kilowatt-hours an hour (kWh/h), down from over 9 million KWh/h Tuesday, according to data from the Mallnow measuring point at the German-Polish border.
Tuesday’s record volumes sparked fears about European gas supplies for this winter. They also pushed up benchmark European gas contract prices by around 30%
On Wednesday, the capacity nominations for Russian gas flows between Ukraine and Slovakia via the Velke Kapusany frontier point, another major route remained low.
The number of nominations was 286,481 megawatt-hours, which is a little higher than the level seen the previous day but still below the levels seen in December according to data from Eustream, a Slovakian pipeline operator.
