First Minister Nicola Sturgeon will hold an emergency briefing on Omicron variant cases for Scotland

Six cases of the Covid-19 Omicron variant were identified in Scotland. Four of the cases were found in Lanarkshire, while two were identified in Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Public Health Scotland and local protection teams are supporting. Contact tracing is being done to determine the source of the virus as well as any people they may have been in contact with over the past weeks.

Nicola Sturgeon will hold an emergency briefing Monday morning at 10.30 am after six cases of new Covid variant Omnicron were discovered in Scotland.

In her keynote speech at a Scottish National party conference, the first minister will warn people to increase their efforts to adhere to physical distancing guidelines and mask-wearing guidelines in Scotland.

Sturgeon will likely say the following in a text that has been released ahead of time:

The winter months will present many challenges. All over the world, there are more cases. We know that the virus can spread faster in colder temperatures, which will force us to stay indoors. This is also true if we have festive socializing.

Most importantly, the Omicron variant is causing serious concern in the United States and around the globe. We must remain vigilant. This is an opportunity to be more vigilant than ever.
