EasyJet has cancelled 232 out of the 1,138 flights to and from Portugal that were scheduled during a three-day strike by its cabin crew.
The budget airline’s cabin staff in the popular summer holiday destination will be on strike starting tomorrow.
EasyJet Portugal informed Reuters that it had planned 1,138 flights over the next three days but had to cancel about one-fifth of them due to the strike.
The company stated:
“We regret that, due to the unnecessary strike action planned by the SNPVAC union, and to minimize the impact on our customers’ travel plans, we have had to cancel some of the flights scheduled during the period of the collective action.”
The Portuguese government has mandated minimum services during the strike, which will include flights to Madeira, Geneva, Luxembourg, and London.
EasyJet has 19 aircraft based in Portugal and employs over 800 people there.
