The Dow Jones Industrial Average pushed to another fresh record, lifted by strong gains in Amazon.
The US blue-chip index rose 0.5% to 49,221.13, extending its rally after breaking through the 49,000-point mark for the first time on Monday.
Amazon shares climbed 2% after the company announced the launch of Alexa.com, a new platform that lets selected users interact with its artificial intelligence assistant via a web-based interface.
The broader S&P 500 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite also edged higher, as investors remained cautious ahead of the next batch of economic data that could offer fresh clues on the health of the US economy.
