[Defence Holdings PLC (LON: ALRT)](https://www.investegate.co.uk/announcement/rns/defence-holdings-plc--alrt/operational-and-strategic-business-update/9764387) has reported further progress across its defence technology strategy, with its **first UK Ministry of Defence contract on track for completion in October 2026** and discussions over a second MoD engagement continuing to advance.

The company said delivery of its initial Ministry of Defence contract under Project Strong remains on schedule, with **three priority use cases now identified**.

A second potential Ministry of Defence customer engagement has also progressed materially, with contracting discussions underway and Defence Holdings continuing to expect the agreement to be **secured in the near term**.

The update comes ahead of the company’s Annual General Meeting on 22 September and marks the start of a move towards providing similar operational updates on a quarterly basis.

Defence Holdings is also expanding its sovereign software portfolio, with its **fourth and fifth products now in active development** following identification of additional defence customer requirements.

The company is positioning the software ecosystem as a core part of its operating model, alongside its commercial activities, investment strategy and wider defence technology network.

Progress is also being made within the recently launched Defence Fund, where the investment pipeline has expanded to **nine potential opportunities**.

Of these, **three have moved into advanced discussions**, including engagement with prospective third-party investors.

The development follows the formal launch of the company’s Investment Pillar and the recent start of the Meridian Accelerator Programme.

The inaugural Meridian cohort includes **ten companies** selected for technologies that Defence Holdings believes could address specific problem sets across UK defence.

Alongside the accelerator programme, the company continues to develop its wider commercial pipeline while progressing delivery of Project Strong and the anticipated second Ministry of Defence engagement.

Defence Holdings said the latest activity demonstrates continued execution of its operating model across **commercial contracts, sovereign software development, defence technology acceleration and strategic investment**.

The company is also approaching the first anniversary of its strategic partnership with Whitespace, with a recorded discussion between the two companies’ chief executives due to be published on 15 September.

With **one MoD contract approaching completion, a second potentially nearing award, two additional software products under development and nine opportunities now in the Defence Fund pipeline**, the company said it is continuing to build out the different parts of its defence technology platform ahead of its AGM.

**Comment: ***Government contracts, software development, a fund, something about an ecosystem (always a good buzzword), an “Operating Model”, all sounds good. The latest RNS suggests that the company is getting there. But this risks being a company which over promises and under delivers, even if this does not turn out to be the case.*
