Commuter Misery: Tube Strikes Begin as TfL Website Crashes
Commuters faced major disruption this morning as Transport for London’s website crashed on the first day of a week-long tube strike.
Those trying to check updates on specific lines during the five-day strike by the RMT union were met with an “internal service error” message. While the issue has since been resolved, TfL’s journey planner remains down, adding to commuter frustration.
The strike action, involving around 10,000 RMT members, will result in almost no tube trains running until Friday, with knock-on effects expected across the capital as buses and rail services become overcrowded.
The RMT union has rejected calls to call off the strike, continuing to push for a shorter working week as part of pay negotiations.
Other London transport services, including the Elizabeth line, London Overground, and National Rail services, will continue to operate, though some central stations with tube interchanges will be closed.
