BSF Enterprise Plc (LON: BSFA) has entered a strategic partnership with SCHAKAU Managementberatung to commercialise its lab-grown leather in ultra-luxury vehicles and bio-engineered skin materials for humanoid and industrial robotics.
The partnership establishes two principal commercial channels. BSF’s Lab-Grown Leather portfolio, including its T-Rex Leather™ concept, will be promoted to European luxury automotive manufacturers for bespoke applications such as interior trim, steering elements and premium accents.
The second targets the emerging robotics market, where BSF intends to use technology developed by its 3D Bio-Tissues subsidiary to produce bio-engineered human skin equivalents and biological interface materials for robotic systems.
SCHAKAU will provide access to automotive manufacturers and other potential commercial partners, with the agreement targeting a binding MOU for lab-grown leather development or licensing between September and December 2026. A Tier-1 partnership for robotics skin or biological interface development is targeted between September 2026 and January 2027.
The commercial framework includes a six-year revenue-sharing structure for programmes introduced by SCHAKAU, alongside performance-dependent equity incentives. SCHAKAU may also introduce strategic capital, earning success fees ranging from 5% on amounts up to £10 million to 2% on capital above £50 million.
Importantly, BSF retains 100% ownership of its underlying intellectual property, including patents, tissue scaffolds, trade secrets and cell-manufacturing processes.
Chief Executive Che Connon said the partnership represents a significant step towards converting BSF’s scientific platforms into high-value commercial opportunities, positioning the company at the intersection of biotechnology, advanced materials and robotics.
