BSF Enterprise Shares Jump 18% After US Patent Allowance for ETSYL Technology

BSF Enterprise Plc (LON: BSFA) shares jumped 18% after the US Patent and Trademark Office issued a Notice of Allowance covering key intellectual property behind its ETSYL® collagen technology.

The patent application, held by wholly owned subsidiary 3D Bio-Tissues Ltd, protects methods using the bioactive peptide ETSYL® — palmitoyl pentapeptide-87 — to stimulate and enhance collagen production in cells.

A Notice of Allowance means substantive examination has been completed and the claims have been accepted by the USPTO. The patent is not yet formally issued, with BSF required to pay the standard issue fee before the December 2026 deadline.

For investors, that distinction matters. The milestone materially reduces the risk that BSF’s core ETSYL® claims are rejected in the US, but it does not itself create revenue, prove commercial demand or guarantee licensing income.

The value of the allowance is therefore mainly strategic: it gives BSF a stronger legal position from which to license ETSYL®, negotiate supply agreements and defend the technology against competitors in a major skincare and cosmetics market.

It also reinforces BSF’s existing worldwide exclusive commercialisation and supply agreement with SCHAKAU Managementberatung GmbH, which is targeting ETSYL® at the cosmetics and luxury-beauty market.

ETSYL® was originally developed through 3D Bio-Tissues’ tissue-engineering work to increase natural collagen synthesis, giving the technology potential applications across both regenerative materials and cosmetic actives.

The next valuation-sensitive milestones are now clearer: formal US patent issuance, product launches, customer orders, licensing deals and recurring supply revenues. In other words, the patent allowance strengthens the commercial platform, but investors will still need evidence that the protected IP can be converted into meaningful cash flow.

Che Connon, Chief Executive Officer of BSF Enterprise PLC, commented: “Securing a Notice of Allowance from the USPTO is an important validation of the platform science developed by our team at 3D Bio-Tissues. The United States is a critical commercial jurisdiction for bioactive compounds, and having our core collagen-boosting mechanism formally allowed establishes a robust intellectual property foundation.

This allowance directly supports our commercial strategy for ETSYL®. Having recently partnered with SCHAKAU to launch ETSYL® into the global luxury skincare and cosmetics sector, this US patent protection enhances the long-term commercial value of our supply arrangements and provides our commercial partners with verified intellectual property exclusivity in the world’s largest consumer beauty market.”
