EasyJet (EZJ.L.) will cancel more than 200 flights in the next 10 days because of airport delays or other restrictions that may disrupt travel during school holidays.
Since the removal of COVID restrictions, European airline has faced a series of problems. Many British airports struggle to hire enough staff, while easyJet has had IT issues.
It recently removed six seats from some A319 aircraft to reduce the crew it needed by one.
According to a statement, it said that 24 flights per day would be cancelled from London’s Gatwick Airport for the period May 28 through June 6. Due to an IT problem, it had to cancel 200 flights Thursday.
It said, “We are very sorry about the late notice of some cancellations and inconvenience caused to customers booked on these flights but we believe this is necessary in order to provide reliable services during this busy period.”
“Customers will be informed starting today. They will have the option to cancel their flight, receive a refund or request compensation according to regulations.
