Bodies scattered on streets of Kherson in Christmas Eve

Five people were killed during a Christmas Eve strike in the centre of Kherson. The bodies littered the streets and caused chaos during the holiday period.

Volodymyr Zelensky (the Ukrainian president) claimed that Russia intentionally fired on civilian targets in order to intimidate the population of the newly liberated city.

“In the morning on Saturday, on Christmas Eve, in the central portion of the city,” Mr Zelensky stated as he published graphic photos of the aftermath.

These are not military facilities. According to the rules, this is not a war. He said that it was terror and killing for intimidation or pleasure.

Images from the scene showed cars set ablaze and bodies scattered on the streets, some of them bloodied from the blasts.

Witnesses could be seen holding their hands up in the air as they looked at the aftermath in shock. Meanwhile, medics helped the injured to get into ambulances.

Dmytro Kuleba is Ukraine’s foreign minister. He asked that people who celebrate Christmas in the West spare a thought for those who were killed in the center of Kherson today.

He posted a photo of his burned car online and said “Christmas Eve.” Multiple civilians are killed in a Russian terror attack on Kherson. As families across the globe prepare for festive meals, please spare a thought to Ukraine, which is fighting evil at this moment. Your active and ongoing support is essential for our victory.”
