Blackbird plc (AIM: BIRD) has secured a distribution partnership with Google, with its browser-based video editor elevate.io to be featured in the Chromebook Perks programme.
Chromebook users will be offered a 50% discount for six months on monthly subscriptions, or a 25% discount on an annual plan.
The programme is expected to launch in the UK during October 2026 as a test market, with results determining whether it expands into additional territories.
For Blackbird, the attraction is access to a potentially large pool of Chromebook users without requiring elevate.io to be installed locally.
The platform runs entirely in the browser and does not require high-powered hardware, downloads or specialist equipment, making it particularly well suited to Chromebook devices.
Blackbird said the programme provides elevate.io with a route to tens of millions of potential users worldwide.
However, the agreement does not guarantee subscriber numbers or revenue. Its commercial value will depend on how many Chromebook users activate the offer and convert into paying customers.
Chief executive Ian McDonough said the partnership provides validation for Blackbird’s decision to build elevate.io as a browser-native editing platform and could become an important user-acquisition channel.
elevate.io targets creators, marketing teams and businesses with collaborative video editing and publishing tools built on Blackbird’s cloud-video technology.
For investors, the key significance is that elevate.io is gaining distribution through a major global technology platform, potentially reducing the cost and difficulty of acquiring new users.
The next important milestones are the UK launch, user uptake, paid conversion rates and any subsequent international expansion of the Chromebook Perks partnership.
