Anglesey Mining PLC (AIM: AYM) announced that it has formally submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Scoping Report for its Parys Mountain project to the North Wales Minerals and Waste Planning Service.
This Planning Service evaluates mineral planning applications on behalf of the Isle of Anglesey County Council and other County Councils in the North Wales region.
Anglesey Mining noted that the Scoping Report represents the initial phase of the EIA process, outlining the project’s anticipated impacts and identifying key and significant impacts that will be thoroughly assessed in the final EIA report.
“At this EIA scoping stage, the project description is still indicative and will be refined as ongoing mining engineering studies, economic analyses, and consultations with neighbors, the broader community, and other stakeholders continue,” the statement explained.
Once the assessment is finalized, the scoping report will be added to the Anglesey Council Planning Public Register.
Anglesey’s chief executive, Rob Marsden, participated in a site visit and meeting at Parys Mountain on August 13, 2024, with the Senior Minerals and Waste Planning Officer.
Marsden remarked, “The submission of the Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Report for the Parys Mountain Project marks a significant milestone for Anglesey.
The evaluation of the environmental and social impacts of mining copper, zinc, lead, silver, and gold from Parys Mountain, along with the economic feasibility, will be crucial in the permitting processes needed to advance the project through investment and financing to mineral production.”
