Aidan Bishop, Founding Director, BigDish PLC (DISH.L) Podcast

We had the pleasure to speak with Aidan from BigDish on the Share Talk platform and he spoke about the company announced this week, Operational Update.

Aidan Bishop, Founding Director, commented:

“It is great news that restaurants are starting to reopen and BigDish is getting back to business in the UK. Over the past few months our tech team has been working very hard in Manila in building what is the beginnings of a Super App, which enables BigDish to offer so much more value to restaurants and consumers alike. I would like to thank the team who amidst so much uncertainty have worked tirelessly and have been willing to sacrifice their salary for the advancement of the business.”

Launching a beta version of BigDish-to-GO is an exciting step forward for BigDish and has been well received based on early feedback from our restaurant partners. There will be significant enhancements made to our delivery platform that will be rolled out over the remainder of 2020.”

Here is the list of questions we based the interview on.

  • comments on the restaurant sector
  • how is the new model different and why has the company done this
  • is anyone else doing this type of model
  • how about restaurant retention

UK Government Boosts The Restaurant Sector

Yesterday, Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced that diners will receive a 50% discount off their restaurant bill during the month of August. This amounts to up to £10 per head between Monday and Wednesday during the month of August.

VAT Reduction

A VAT reduction from 20% to 5% has also been unveiled to support the hospitality sector for the next six months.

Aidan Bishop, Founding Director, commented:

“BigDish is naturally delighted to see the Government intervening to jolt the restaurant industry back to life by incentivising diners to come back to restaurants. The Company will update the market in due course with regards to how the government initiatives have benefited the BigDish platform.”
