Before we you listen to the podcast, here is a little look behind the curtain and how is all started back in the day!
Share Talk went live on the eve of the Golden Bears Investor Show on the 25th November 2015. We never gave it any thought, how to collect content or how we would pay to host the site, hotel or even travelling costs. To be honest it was going to be a hobby website to share content with people to read and do research.
On a cold winters night on the eve of Golden Bears Investor Show, i arrived in London and was sitting chatting with two friends, one just happened to be Zac Mir. Someone happened to say “the site would never work as the market was so competitive for a new site to launch”. I always remember my reply for some strange reason, i said the day job would pay the bills and this was just a bit of fun!
It was poring with rain that night, i cant picture the setting even today . Yet i was all excited as i had just returned from a long trip offshore in the Far East and was home for Christmas with my family and about to launch our own little web portal.
I have to mention @conkers3 as we go back a long way and together kicked the idea about, having a platform that was clean, transparent and not full of advertisements, adsense clicks – my pet hate. That wouldn’t take payments and sell its soul to distribute information we didn’t agree with.
By chance i had a conversation with @categoryx in October 2015 and Simon basically said at the time “you tell me what you want and i will build it”, and as they say “the rest is history and he is a star.
As we moved forward the team has grown and we are like family today. In 2017 you will see a lot more of the team as we do road shows in Cardiff, London, and a few other places “think Scotland”. Our first home will always be the Village Hotel, Walsall/Birmingham in the county of the “Walsall Rat Pack”.
Here we are today throwing a celebration party with the help of a few good friends, companies and a truly amazing following who we will never forget or take for granted. Everyone is welcome and i am in talks with a few special guests, lets see if they come along on the evening of 26th November.
