Poolbeg Pharma plc is set to present new data on its drug candidate POLB 001 at the upcoming European Hematology Association Congress 2026, highlighting the treatment’s potential to prevent cancer immunotherapy-induced Cytokine Release Syndrome (CRS).
The presentation, scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2026, will showcase findings demonstrating that POLB 001 reduced key inflammatory cytokines, including TNF, IFNγ and IL-6 in vivo, markers strongly associated with CRS.
Importantly, the company said the data also showed that POLB 001 did not impair bispecific antibody-induced tumour cell killing in vitro, a significant factor given concerns that CRS treatments can sometimes reduce the effectiveness of cancer immunotherapies.
CRS is a potentially severe and life-threatening side effect associated with several advanced cancer treatments, including CAR-T and bispecific antibody therapies. Poolbeg believes POLB 001 could help improve patient safety and quality of life while enabling broader access to next-generation immunotherapies.
Management said the latest findings further support the commercial and clinical potential of POLB 001 as an adjunct treatment within the rapidly expanding oncology immunotherapy market.
