Genflow Biosciences PLC (LON: GENF) has reported encouraging preliminary interim results from its SLAB clinical trial assessing its SIRT6 gene therapy in aged dogs.
The company said the treatment demonstrated superior survival rates and a favourable safety profile across all dosing groups compared with the control. Early findings also showed improvements in quality of life measures, including better preservation of muscle mass, reductions in frailty index scores, and enhanced coat quality.
Further analysis, including assessments of biological age markers and detailed muscle histology results, is expected within the next two months.
Genflow said the positive data highlights the potential of its therapy in addressing age-related decline in companion animals and strengthens its position as it seeks partnerships within the animal health sector.
Genflow Biosciences CEO Dr Eric Leire said the preliminary interim findings from the SLAB trial mark an important milestone for the company and significantly enhance its prospects for animal health partnerships.
He highlighted the consistency of positive results across multiple independent measures, including survival, quality of life improvements, muscle preservation, and reductions in frailty, alongside a strong safety profile. Leire said this reinforces Genflow’s SIRT6 platform as a credible and differentiated opportunity within the companion animal market.
He added that, following these encouraging early outcomes, the company is now moving into the follow-up phase to evaluate the durability of the treatment’s effects and to monitor for differences in the development of age-related diseases. Genflow expects to deliver a comprehensive update on all trial endpoints, including key methylation clock and muscle histology data, within the next two months.
