Prospex Energy PLC (AIM: PXEN) shares climbed 16% on Monday morning after the company announced the restart of gas production from the Viura-1B well at the Viura gas field in northern Spain.
The Viura-1B well returned to service on 17 October 2025 and is currently being ramped up to reach 180,000 cubic metres per day, the company said.
Production had been suspended since April 2025 due to a tubing leak, with operations resuming following equipment repairs and the removal of a severed wireline cable.
Chief executive Mark Routh welcomed the restart, noting its financial importance:
“The resumption of production from the Viura field is very welcome news. The operator safely removed the severed wireline cable from the well with no injuries or safety incidents, enabling recommencement of gas production from the well. Prospex’ share of production from Viura represents the largest contribution to the Company’s portfolio of net production with the associated reinstatement of cashflow being particularly welcome news.”
In early London trading, Prospex shares rose 16% to 4.70p, reflecting investor optimism over restored production and renewed revenue streams.
