Trending this week

Firstly

Thank you for the good feedback and your interaction after Steve Shares issue #6.

I have had several interactions from poster in relation to Ascent Resources #AST @sharesorter @robwalsh15 @faslam_aslam and myself interacted about the future potential at the GM on Monday this week. More about #AST in a moment. Thank you to those that interacted and shows how factual information can be passed to those external to their followers to potential new investors. Off the back of these interactions @sharesorter has contacted me and has done his research and sees it as a longer play as opposed to a trade and didn’t just jump in.

During the week I was asked by @djxforce to give thoughts on #SDX and by @MarcDicks to do a comparison of #MKA as compared to #BKY. I will be publishing these as a separate entity early next week for your perusal.

Whats hot? Whats not?

Ascent Resources (AST)

It has been a turbulent week for holders of Ascent Resources. With the approval of all resolutions approved on Monday there is now just a short period and a small funding gap before targeted production can start. With the different route to market being processed and production targeted for early next year what do you expect to happen?

In the near to short term in regards to funding? With the interactions after last weeks issue#5 of Steve Shares several posters believed that #AST would be the target of a potential takeover. What would be a fair buy out price if this was to happen? What potential suitors are out there looking at the prospect? With the drop in share price this week is now the time to phase in pre production, or pre takeover?

William Hill (WMH)

‘Steve Shares’ has followed the emerging story of William hill and their takeover offers on the table for a few weeks now. With deals just above their current value and with William Hill in the process of dealing with their internal makeover of their online processes, other companies interested in the brand needed to up their offers. These offers were not coming and Rank and 888 walked away from the offers. With the company goin through their internal changes and the BOD not even wanting to interact do you think the BOD know that bigger and better times are coming? Do you see value in investing in the company at present? With the low offers rejected do you see potentially other offers? What would be acceptable offers to holders?

Entertainment One and ITV (ETO) (ITV)

The ITV offer for eOne has been a topic for discussion after the board rejected the offer because it fundamentally undervalues the company and its prospects. This week ITV officially walked away from any potential deal. With the share price of entertainment one dropping off the back of this news and drops over the and the management team of Entertainment One stating that it is unvalued at the takeover amount do you see value in Entertainment One? Do you see -value in ITV? Could any other suitors be in the pipeline for the company?

Are you a shareholder in either eOne or ITV? Let us know your thoughts on #lstitv or #lsteto and tag me in @slarratt1

88 Energy (88e)

Yet again In the run up to the results of the 2 and 3 dimensional interpretation, and possible further news in relation to joint venture partners to come, 88e is still a hot topic on social media. With gains in the share price from week to week what do you see the potential share price? What are your hopes and expectations from the next piece of news to come?

Your thoughts, comments and questions are welcomed on #lst88e tag me in @slarratt1

Strat Aero (AERO)

It has been a week of rises and falls for Strat Aero. Early this week on the back of news of the Civil Aviation Authorities announcement that it has granted National Qualified Status, the share price reacted accordingly and rose to recent new highs off the back of this news. The day after they announced an agreement to roll out training of their unmanned ariel training vehicles in Malaysia. Then the day after this they announced a placing at around 50% discount to the then current share price. Do you see any value in the company as an investment or is this a target to trade? Your comments please on #lstaero

My thought of the week

Having covered thoughts on the banks and the media in the post Brexit world we now live in I have had a look at the housing sector shares ofBarratt Developments (BDEV), Persimmon (PSN) and Taylor Wimpey. (TW.) This week has again seen market expectations surpassed as persimmon homes released first half profits up 29% with every aspect of the company improving. With interest rates dropped to all time lows the housing market still needs a high demand of houses to be built so looks to be buoyant over a longer time frame. The recent lows of the post Brexit scare look far behind them and as an approach to recent highs there are questions that need to be asked… Why the drops in the market caps when the fundamentals had not changed? With the companies paying pidends and the lower than recent highs is there still opportunity to see gains in the share prices over the foreseeable future?

New EU Market Abuse Regulations overview

Certain types of behaviour, such as insider dealing and market manipulation, can amount to market abuse. Firms must have safeguards in place to identify and reduce the risk of market abuse and other financial crime. The UK’s civil market abuse regime aims to ensure the smooth functioning of the market for financial securities by curbing behaviours that distort the price of securities and harm investor confidence in the integrity and impartiality of the market.

At the EU-level, concerns of market distortion arising through regulatory arbitrage have led to the introduction of new harmonising measures in the form of an EU Regulation on Market Abuse (“MAR”). This briefing provides an overview of some of the key changes which came into affect on 3rd July 2016.
