HBOS fraud ‘covered up for nine years’

One of Britain’s largest frauds, which destroyed hundreds of small businesses that banked with Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS), was covered up for nine years, according to an internal report seen by The Sunday Times.

The estimated £1bn scam was “concealed” by several HBOS executives, according to a report by a senior employee at Lloyds, which merged with HBOS months later.

How I Manage so many Stocks

I remember after doing one of the early Podcasts with Justin, the question arose about“how do you manage so many Stocks?” – I can’t actually remember if Justin asked me this or whether it came about from a Reader/Follower afterwards but that doesn’t matter – the point is that I don’t think I have ever actually got around to answering it and this Blog hopefully will put that major deficiency to rights. On top of that, it actually fits in a treat with some Draft Blogs I am working on about ‘Cutting out Noise’ and my original intention was to include it as a Part of that Blog Series but then I decided it was so important that it deserves its own Blog. China energy giant seen ready to unleash $85-billion spinoff

HONG KONG (Bloomberg) — As China’s biggest oil and gas producer prepares to report what may be its worst-ever earnings, investors are focused on billions of dollars that could be unlocked by a spinoff of its massive pipeline network.

PetroChina Co.’s natural gas and crude oil transportation system, stretching from the country’s remote borders with Central Asia to major coastal cities, could be worth at least $85 billion dollars, according to analysts at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co.
