Graphite Dominance in the Anode material for lithium–ion batteries

In the production of lithium-ion batteries, graphite

currently has a 90% market share of the Anode

material market

The remaining 10% of the Anode material market is

made up of LTO, MCM, Hard and Soft Carbon.

Whilst synthetic graphite is seen as much purer, it is a

material made from petroleum and is very expensive

to produce, sometimes costing up to 10 times as much

as natural graphite.

Lower production costs, higher power output and

higher energy densities will propel natural graphite to

be the dominant player in the industry
